چکیده

Glycoprotein Biosynthesis, Race Specific Determinants, Phytophthora megasperma f. sp. glycinea, Lipid-Intermediates, Tunicamycin, Diumycin Extracellular glycoproteins have been claimed to represent the specificity determinants within different races o f Phytophthora megasperma f. sp. glycinea (formerly P. m. var. sojae) specifically infective in different soybean cultivars. Microsomal preparations o f three different races o f Pmg are capable o f synthesizing both N-glycosidically linked oligosaccharides and short O-glycosidically linked oligomannoses in vitro from corresponding sugar nucleotides. In addition, lipidic glycosidic intermediates (dolichol type derivatives) serve as specific glycosyl donors. In general, the results demonstrate that the well-known ubiquitous biosynthetic pathway o f asparagine-di-Nacetyl-chitobiose type glycoproteins is established in that fungus. The significance o f the results regarding specific elicitors, suppressors, protectants, and extracellular glycoenzym es is discussed.

Cyclic AMP Is Not Involved as a Second Messenger in the Response of Soybean to Infection by Phytophthora megasperma f. sp. glycinea

Cyclic AMP, Radioimmunoassay, Phytoalexins, Glycine max, Phytophthora megasperma cAMP levels were monitored in soybean (Glycine max) infected with race 1 of Phytophthora megasperma f. sp. glycinea and in soybean cell suspension cultures treated with a glucan elicitor from P. megasperma. While cAMP could be readily detected in soybean hypocotyls using a radio immunoassay, no correlation was obs...

Rapid Accumulation of Anionic Peroxidases and Phenolic Polymers in Soybean Cotyledon Tissues following Treatment with Phytophthora megasperma f. sp. Glycinea Wall Glucan.

Phytophthora megasperma Drechs. f. sp. glycinea Kuan & Erwin (PMG) cell wall glucan has been extensively characterized as an elicitor of the pterocarpan phytoalexins, the glyceollins in soybean (Glycine max L.). Just recently, this glucan was shown to be a potent elicitor of conjugates of the isoflavones, daidzein and genistein as well. Here we report that PMG wall glucan also induces a rapid a...

Phytoalexin Production by Isolated Soybean Protoplasts

Protoplasts, Soybean Cell Suspension Cultures, Phytoalexin Production, Phytophthora megasperm a f. sp. glycinea, Glucan Elicitor Protoplasts isolated enzymatically from suspension-cultured cells of soybean (Glycine max L. Merr., cv. Harosoy 63) were used to study the production of the isoflavonoid-derived phytoale xin, glyceollin. A large enhancement in the in vivo rates of synthesis and catal...

Synthesis of a glucoheptaose and a glucooctaose that elicit phytoalexin accumulation in soybean.

The glucoheptaose 1 and the glucooctaose 2 have been synthesized using unambiguous methods. The former is identical with an elicitor-active heptasaccharide obtained from partially hydrolyzed mycelium of Phytophthora megasperma f. sp. glycinea. The octasaccharide is also elicitor active, although to a lesser extent than the heptasaccharide. 1:R = H; 2:R = beta-D-Glcp. (Formula: see text)

Abscisic Acid Suppression of Phenylalanine Ammonia-Lyase Activity and mRNA, and Resistance of Soybeans to Phytophthora megasperma f.sp. glycinea.

Etiolated hypocotyls of the resistant soybean (Glycine max [L.] Merr.) cultivar Harosoy 63 became susceptible to Phytophthora megasperma (Drechs.) f.sp. glycinea (Hildeb.) Kuan and Erwin race 1 after treatment with abscisic acid. Susceptibility was expressed by increases in lesion size and a major decrease in accumulation of the isoflavonoid phytoalexin, glyceollin. In untreated hypocotyls, act...
